I measured the oil temps in my two bikes after a 30 mile ride in 73f air temps. My wife and i rode 30 miles at about 50-60 mph.

Her bike: '01 600 v-twin, oil Honda 10w40
: oil temp 192f
My bike: '02 Honda 750 v-twin, oil Amsoil 10w-40
: oil temp 202f

Those look good to me. If they are above 180 but below 212 your engine and oil is working great.

What method did u use to measure the temps?

I used a digital thermometer that i inserted into the dipstick hole.

I wonder how hot the oil really was while really circulating? I mean this gives a good baseline, but i wonder how hot the oil is getting as it lubricates the valves/heads/etc. I have a oil temp. dipstick in my Harley and it runs around 190-200 in very hot, i.e. temp is greater than 105 in stop and go traffic. I know the Harley engines run hot, just curious if anyone seen where this was measured. HAS to be alot hotter than 190 degrees i would think at some point during circulation.
