Hey All,

I have a new Polaris 330 Trail Boss. Can I use the regular European car version of Mobil in that application? The Polaris 0w40 and the Mobil One Motorcycle oil are both sort of pricey. I can get the European car stuff for $4.99 at Wally's.
The Trailboss has the automatic PVT tranmission so I assume clutch slippage is not an issue.

It should work for you. You are correct clutch slippage isn't as issue with these atv's, so no "special motorcycle oil" without friction modifiers is needed. I have a Sportsman 400 and am currently using Amsoil 0W40 four stroke oil. It seems to do well. I too am contemplating going to Mobil 1 0W40 because it is about $2 cheaper. The Amsoil and Polaris oil is about $6.25 a qt for me, but the Mobil is only about $4.25-$4.50. Mine only holds 2 qts so it isn't that expensive either way. Have fun with the new toy, they are fun.

You might also consider the Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W40. It appears to be more shear stable than the 0W40.
