Castrol 20/50

[R1150R]

Was in WallyWorld today and saw some MC specific SG rated Castrol 20/50 for 1.98/qt. I haven't ever used any Castrol product but for 1.98 as compared to other MC oils, this seems to be a bargain even for a dino oil. How is this stuff? And are there ANY differences between regular car oils? I've heard stories about VOIDED WARRANTY SYNDROME. I have a BMW R1150R.

Hi,
I used the follwing oils in the engine of my R100RS

1 - Castrol RX Super 15w-40 ( HDEO )
2 - Castrol (GC)SLX 0w-30#
3 - Castrol "R" 10w-60#
4 - Mobil's Delvac 1 5w-40# ( HDEO )

# Synthetics - of these No 4 is the best

Check your handbook and you will find that BMW allow the very best and latest oils to be used in their engines. These are the "Approved List" oils

You can use first class synthetic oils in both the gearbox and diff too. I used Castrol's synthetics with excellent results

I'd just use the Mobil 1 15-50 in that since the gearbox is separate. A tick under $20 for the 5 quart jug and it is a real synthetic! This is also what I'd put in a Harley motor.

I have a UOA on that oil in the UOA section. It was ran in a 4 cyl air-cooled Suzuki.
