Has anyone had any experience with the engine oil that Polaris Corp. is marketing for their Victory motorcycles? It is a 20w-40 blend and I've seen it offered in a package along with an oil filter. Who makes this oil for them? Would ones money be better spent on other lubricants existing for this big inch V-twin application?

I have never heard of this before and have no knowledge of this oil. A 20w-40 sounds interesting (What does Polaris call for if their oil isn't available).

With motorcycle oils, the manufacturer's label is usually a decent oil, but overpriced.

Your right on both accounts. OEM bike oils Honda-Yamaha-Harley-Yamaha etc.,,are made by the major oil companies, usually. Except for companies like Motul-Bel-ray-Spectro. I used to use Honda HP-4, semi-synthetic, in my ducati but after testing it once never again./ After 600 miles it had already broken down and was no longer a 10w40. I would use fully synthetic oil not the blend. Unfortunalty a manufacturer can put only 11% synthetic oil in a formula and consider it "semi"

I find the weight interesting. I'm wondering if a quality 10W-40 would suffice. Although this isn't a water cooled engine, it is listed as an air/oil cooled engine, with a 6 quart capacity! Much easier on oil I would think than your typical air cooled V-twin.

Yup, you got it. Factory branded oils are overpriced and overrated. I'll bet you can get Mobil 1 15w50 or Amsoil 10w40 cheaper than the Victory oil, and both will probably do better in the engine.

I know Polaris 2 cycle oil is made by Lube-Tek. Their blue (mineral) 2 cycle is a quality product, but their gold synthetic is way overpriced ($32 a gallon)
