Motorcycle Oil comparisons

I liked what wileyE had to say. Got me thinking. Living in south Texas, with a combination of stop-n-go San Antonio traffic and twisties for my daily adventure getting to work, I run M-1 15W50 for summer because it does run much cooler. Sometimes you idle at a light for several minutes at 100+ degrees. That's got to be hard on oil. I ran Havoline 20W-50 last winter. Sure was quiet. If I lived in the North, I'd probably run Delo or Delvac.

Just a quick correction...

Researching the Harley V-Rod (Revolution) engine a bit, it seems that the design is not a Porsche design per se; Harley's own engineers designed the engine, and then enlisted the help of one division of Porsche for the water cooling system. Harley did this because Porsche had done extensive research on going from air cooled to water cooled engines in their sports cars. It is reported that Harley Davidson now owns that R&D division of Porsche.

Porsche did not have anything to do with the basic design of the HD Revolution engine.
