This'll definitely be a "hemi-killer."

So, lets relate this to oil. Will this "monster" need the new, M1 T&SUV 5W30 for enough protection?

So far Toyota quality is way better then Ford Chev or Dodge The hemi hype isn't fooling me though ,I just purchased a 2006 Toy 4wd x cab 4 cyl to replace my 92 and My wife used to have a 85 Toy p/u 4wd,The 2006 just isn,t the quality of the older ones . The 85 and 92 were way heavier duty as compared to the 2006 .Every year the cars are getting crappier.

Quality is based on your views and on your uses, I have a brother in law with a 2004 Tundra. Been in the shop over 3 times for various Problems,But he tows on regular basis. Going by what consumer reports and all of these other Sites say His truck would be of "Poor" quality. But He uses it in a Sever fashion.

Remember that Next time you hear someone talk of quality of a certain Vehicle Asked based on what usage.

Just pointin something out. This goes for all manufactures.

1. This truck is way to far out to draw anything conclusive about, I'll believe 400 hp when I see it, and a peak hp north of 6000 rpms doesn't count either.

2. Despite the wishes of many, Toyotas quality has really been on a downward slope, as proven by JD powers latest 3 year durabilty test. The taco ranked behind GM's S10 (that's gotta hurt). The Tundra ranked behind the Escalde and F150.

3. I don't suppose that this Tundra will include the Taco's famous shattering in cold climates bed either?

Page 4 is really interesting.

toneloc12345, Toyota has already released their new LX460 Lexus with a 380HP V8 and an 8 speed automatic so a 400+HP 5.7L V8 is not out of the question. You are only talking about a 40HP leap over NIssans Titan.

((((("3. I don't suppose that this Tundra will include the Taco's famous shattering in cold climates bed either?"))))))

Super,

Where did you get this story? I have never heard of any such thing. Give us a link to this incredible story of yours.

That is about as bad as your story about the shattering bed in cold weather.

Sound like a lot of hype to me, and it's contradicted by several credible news sources.

According to The car connection it has a 6-speed auto, 300+ HP, and up to 10,000 lbs towing. Sounds like someone got a little too excited.

None of those numbers sound very ground breaking either. Ford, GM and I believe Dodge all have half tons with 300+ HP and 10,000 lbs towing, sound like their just catching up.

I don't see how a pickup would have the same drivetrain as a top of the line luxury car and the Titan has only 305hp. John are you feeling OK?

hemi hype

The engine designed for the the Ford Escort is known as the CVH, which stands for Compound Valve angle Hemispherical. The next time someone talks about how super the Hemi is I'll bring up that little factoid.

As they say, "The proof is in the pudding.".

As far as the cracked bed issue, take a tour of any 'yota fourm, you won't have to look far to find several ****** off owners that have had warranty work refused on the cracked bed issue. You do know it is a big hunk of plastic?

The rest of my statements were backed up by the JD powers link...but it's easier to not read it and just say I'm making it up Huh?

It should be pointed out, for the benefit of those who live in southern climates, that plastic can get brittle when it gets cold.

(I've heard stories about contractors who had pull packs of Cat5 cable in their vans overnight and attempted to pull the wire out while it was still cold..and watched as the outer jacket of the cable broke off in pieces).

1sttruck - how was it the torque managment was not enabling him to move the load...redistribution of power from the wheels with traction (due to preset load maximums), to those with less traction?

Interesting note.

Nissan's 305-hp V8 already kills the 345-hp hemi...it puts more power to the rear wheels than the hemi. That Chrysler autobox/torque converter must be REALLY inefficient...

Actually towing 10K lbs has more to do with heat disipation (e.g. coolers) in the tranny and differential than it has to do with motor HP (or TQ).

great... more big engines from manufacturers... most of which are WAAAAAYYYYY underutilized... just a fashion statement, even with fuel prices sky high.

I could really care less, regardless of if this is from toyota, nissan, dodge, chevy, GMC or ford...

I hope the engine is a flop... seriously...

I hope they bring out a diesel and its a crazy success... Same for smaller diesels from the big 3.

If its not diesel, its just a waste.
