American Refining Group, Inc. will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its Bradford, Pennsylvania refinery this year. The refinery, which was founded in 1881, is the oldest continuously operating refinery in the United States and the oldest refinery processing crude oil, in the world. According to Harvey L. Golubock, President and Chief Operating Officer of ARG, “a gala celebration is planned for September 7-9, 2006 in Bradford, Pennsylvania to commemorate this historic event. The festivities include a parade; a swap meet and auction for oilfield and refinery memorabilia; displays of early refinery and oilfield equipment; and educational lectures and tours. The public is invited to join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement. We also hope to draw attention to the resurgence of the energy industry in Pennsylvania and its importance to the local, state and national economies.”

A book detailing the history of the refinery is also in the works and an application has been filed with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to designate the refinery as a historical site.
