It's been more than 2 months since Hurricane Wilma slammed into south Florida, leaving many without power for days or even weeks.

One man and family have never gotten their power back.

They've been basically living in the dark ever since and while that may be surprising, it's even more surprising what he did to try to get by without electricity for all this time.

Christmas was just last weekend but one family is getting perhaps the best christmas gift anyone could hope for.

Their power is being turned on for the first time in more than 2 months.

Raynold Joseph and his family have been getting by since Hurricane Wilma living basically in the dark and surviving without electricity with nothing to light their home but one small light.

And using coolers to keep their food cold.

The hurricane caused extensive damage to his wiring in the house.

He's been waiting to see if his insurance company would help him.

So in order to survive and power his light Raynold has been borrowing old batteries from the Mercedes dealership where he works.

Batteries that the dealership was planning to dispose of.

And he rigged them up at home to run his light and a small radio.

When the folks at the dealership learned of his plight, they realized they had to do something to help Raynold.

They took up a collection raising $900 in one day to hire an electrician to repair the wiring at Raynold's home.

The job will actually cost a lot more than $900 but the electrician is doing it for that price, in the spirit of the holidays.
