My Holden Rodeo calls for ATF DEXCON(???) III as power steering fluid. Would normal mineral DEXRON III ATF work? I have access to Chevron/Caltex Texamatic 1888 which meets DEXRON III.

I think by pointing out that it's a 'typo', he did answer his question.

Sorry, yes I didn't answer the question. Maybe Dexcon is counterfeit dexron? Lol

Yes dexron may be used In place of Dexcon.

Dexron III is not a synthetic ATF. Use Valvoline Maxlife ATF. Walmart carries it, but our local store seems to be cutting back on this product. I only saw one quart bottle on the rack Sunday. Can't find the four quart Maxlife on a shelf anywhere in our area.

DEXCON is presumably the type of product that, having never had an actual approval, is 'recommended' or 'suitable'.

I think you meant "DEFCON": Defense Readiness Condition.

Anyhow, I hope the OP buys himself some good quality Dexron!

It was a Play-on-words with a slight bit of sarcasm thrown in.
