Vehicle: 2002 Outback H6, 105,000 miles. Unknown service history prior to 100,000 miles, can see a bit of sludge through oil cap.

Engine: 3.0L DOHC H-6 cylinder engine has an aluminum crankcase, double-overhead camshafts (dohc) chain-driven with four valves per cylinder. The timing chain does NOT have a replacement schedule. The 6 cylinder uses Direct Ignition with an individual ignition coil for each cylinder so there is no distributor or sparkplug wires. Premium fuel, 91 octane, is recommended. 212 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm; 210 lb.-ft. of peak torque @ 4,400 rpm.

My first oil change was Quaker State conventional and a Pronto oil filter (looks like a Puro clone), ran for about 3500-4000 miles.

Using PPHM and a Napa Gold (rebranded Wix) filter. Have not decided OCI yet.

Congrats!
10W-40. Can you get the Toyo Roki filter for this? Otherwise drip, drip, drip with a flat gasket filter almost guaranteed. Ive owned 7 subari from Justy to SVX - though I lost count

Why on earth would I run that weight? 5w30 went in as specified on the oil cap and manual.

And I've never had a filter gasket issue yet on 3 Subarus using Wix, STP, Mann, Purolater, Champion, etc...

I would try 5w30 and a fram orange can for 5000 miles and you will clean that engine in 30-40k. The wix and fram are comparable IMO.

Personally, I think a Napa Gold is superior to a fram orange can.

That being said, I've run a lot of orange cans over the years.

Keep the 5w-30 in it. Use whatever filter you want. I would open the filter to see if any sludge is getting into the filter with the cleanup process.

FWIW, I'll probably get a UOA at about 5,000 miles. Depending on what it reports I'll either extend the OCI, or replace the filter depending on what it says.

Returned from a 1700 mile trip. Vehicle runs smooth, however the oil cooler gasket leak has gotten notably worse. Not sure if it is due to the switch to a synthetic oil (even a HM one) or just a bunch of long highway driving.

Debating on if I want to switch to regular Pennzoil HM after this run, as that is what I'm running in my other car to see if it improves a rear main weep.

That's what I'm running in our other car, seeing if it will help on a rear main weep. Will probably end up either with PYB for this one and PHM for the other...or just keep with PHM and have 1 oil for either vehicle.

i just looked up the PDS Pennzoil had listed for the Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage and it seems the Platinum is not a thick high mileage like the regular Pennzoil high mileage is. It is closer to the Mobil and Valvoline. It looks good on paper let us know how it is and if it slows (oil Burning) consumption.. I was surprised to find the PDS so easily i wish Pennzoil had their other oils PDS listed and easy to find like this one.

All the PDS you are looking for are located on the products page. I don't understand what is so hard find when they are available on the products page.

For some reason they did not pop up the other day but still some of them were from way back in 2011 that's Five years ago some were from 2014.. Where are the 2016 PDS ???
That is one big reason we went with Mobil at my brothers shop they posted their PDS everywhere and when asked they produced a 2016 pds of all of their oils we used.

Something is wrong with your browser, I have not seen 2011 PDS. If the product is still a typical product from 2014 or 2015 is does not matter.

This PDS's was updated this year?

You should come up with a better bash because Mobil has the same PDS's from 2014.

Dave is right, I tried directing you to it last week but you don't comprehend very well. What I mentioned last week is below.

That's what I said, why update a PDS when there's no changes to the product since the last PDS? The 2014 PDS is current, old news.

Some people are assuming there were no changes in their PDS but i find that a little hard to believe.. I should have been more clear.. I was looking for a 2016 PDS from Pennzoil and i could not find one on the yellow bottle or the PHM..

Call them and ask. A fellow oil enthusiast emailed me to let me know my assumption was correct. He called them and asked, since he's a PU convert and wanted to be reassured. I suggested he call and ask. So unless he's pulling my leg the PDS is current.
