Here are all my 2011 wrx analysis. The first two are Amsoil signature series using wix 57712 filters and black stone labs. The second two are my second and third oci's with Mobil 1 european car formula 0w-40 with Napa gold 7712 filters and using oil analyzers inc.
I'm wondering if I can get some peoples opinion on the Oxidation numbers. I never had oxidation numbers from blackstone and so far Oil Analyzers has marked those values as red. Here is what they say:
SUGGEST CHECKING operating temperature and fault codes (as applicable). OXIDATION is at a SEVERE level. Drain interval
may be over-extended or unit may be running too hot. Elevated Oxidation causes acid by-products, deposits, and sludge, and
can increase viscosity and wear. FUEL DILUTION is at a MINOR LEVEL. Silver Possibly from solder; Your note was taken into
consideration. Lubricant and filter change acknowledged.
When they say "your note was taken into account" that was me being a bad car owner, I noted that only 2.5-3 qts came out during the oc. My thoughts on "elevated oxidation causes acid byproducts" is that its not really an issue since my TBN is not depleted.
I decided to try Mobil 1 0w40 because of its better HTHS rating and its extreme cheapness when used with the $12 rebates that are always around.
Thanks,
Mike
