So recently my VW Golf has been stuck in safe mode which limits it to 105 and nothing past 3000rpm. As well, the car now takes about 5-6 times to start up and maintain an idle, and those starts are very violent. Sounds terrible and shakes the car. I had access to a Rosstech VAGCOM reader and pulled these codes...

So am I looking to replace the CPS and Ignition Coils or are there other faults I should look at first? Is there any electrical testing I could do? Thanks for help!

Do you have the coil on plug ignition system? If so, 2003 was a bad year for coil on plugs for VW. Can you look at ignition misfires and get a count?

With that list, I'd start with making sure you have clean power and grounds before throwing other parts at it.

Not an expert here, but the cam sensor code is probably your best starting point. Would start with that and see how it runs. Unfortunately with VW's, the best replacement for sensors/electrical is OEM and that can get expensive.

Found a vid from Bentley that covers a lot of the codes produced!
