shifting had become very notchy. oil in service for 23 months. i had done some tune up hence the excessive idling/ fuel dilution. used an EAom103 filter. refilled with M14t 10w40 and EAom103 filter.

Yeah. Agreed. You can have a KV100 of 18.0 cst or 2.7% fuel dilution but not both at the same time.
Seems a crying shame to dump this oil. It seems to have virtually all of its TBN reserve intact.

you just proved you dont understand what 2.7% fuel means
 
gas is a poor lubricant, dump that oil + unless you are sure your fuel issue is gone just use a decent cheap dino oil.
