Some might recall the thread I made back in 2010 about my aunt's Hyundai Tucson and the timing belt interval found here . Well, it was eventually replaced, the engine didn't blow-up and she has now passed the vehicle onto her son to drive while he's at University.
This morning, I received a message from him with this picture:
These came out of the oil pan when he was changing the oil. Since the engine has a belt, my assumption is that these pieces that look like timing chain guide material are from the chains linking the cams together:
The engine has one at the front, and one at the rear of the engine:
Any idea on the potential cost associated with having these replaced? I've not worked on the vehicle so I'm unsure as to the accessibility of these components and how much disassembly is required to swap them out.
