There are a LOT of synthetic-blend 0w-20 out there. The problem is that there is not a lot of off-the-shelf blends and they are distributed to the dealership/repair and quick-change shops. However, I can get NAPA 0w20 "Synthetic" for $3/qt so why look for a blend at the same pricepoint since "Syn-Blends" are marketing terms ONLY!

Heck, even Havoline makes a 0w20 synblend. Good luck finding it.

If grpIII is not synthetic - then MOST of them are blends.
"Fully Synthetic Motor Oil" is a marketing term ONLY per API documentation.
Not a performance term.

I don't think it is possible to achieve 0W performance with a straight conventional oil.

Not true.
The Grp III designation is based upon an arbitrary cutoff of basestock VI, 130 minimum IIRC, so it is a performance standard.

The ILSAC/API spec states what I wrote.
I wasn't addressing VI of basestock. Vi is not one of MY Top 5 criteria for good lubrication in temperate climes; granted vi does in large part define multigrade performace for winter usage.
