Diesel / TCW3: Anyone else seeing real results?

No, I'm sure it's too high for a common rail diesel. but you try it and report back your findings. I tried once, that's enough (and that was 50/50 blend)

Actually that is one of their primary functions. They periodically burn captured soot in a re-generation process using post-injection fuel added in the exhaust stream/stroke to clean themselves flushing out accumulated ash. But it is not a 100% efficient process, and they do eventually clog with ash over time. So you're right to the extent that any added deposits to the DPF is not by definition, a "good" thing.
