Mobil1 Burns Quickly?

Some Honda S2000 drink M1 at the rate of 1 qt. every 500 to 600 miles. My S2000 doesn't use any M1 in a 7500 mile oci, every car is a little different. If it uses M1 use another oil till you find one that works well in your car.

Used Mobil 1 for 32 years in many cars/trucks/SUV's ...
Never burned in anything ...

I had this problem with M1 as well, one quart every 3k. Doesn't burn a drop on Pennzoil! Not the first time I've heard people having this issue with M1 either, seems to be a common thing. I know Subarus drink it up like tap-water from what I understand.

Yeah I'll chime in on this, I've used M1 nearly exclusively since the late '70s in everything from a Plymouth Horizon to a '74 Buick Regal, to all my current cars. I've never seen abnormal consumption of any sort whatsoever. None of my friends, neighbors nor family have mentioned it either.

I don't think it is "common" at all nor do I think it is well known.

It is one of the only oils, if not the only oil that require zero top ups in our Expedition in a 12K OCI.

Likewise, I have used M1 oils since the late 70's in various types of engines, including 2.0 Ford diesels of the mid 80's. Ever engine I used M1 in never increased in oil use from when I purchased the vehicle to when I sold it. One engine with 350K, and others with over 200K. Also I have friends and family using M1(mainly because of my success) and they would say the same.

Had an escort that drank m1 the two times I tried it. Motorcraft and trop artic didn't show any loss in a 5k oci and castrol syntec didn't show any loss in a 10-12k (3 month) oci. Just the m1.

Now, our Subaru h6 didn't use any AFE 0w30 in a 10k oci and so far my expedition seems to be happy with the m1 HM.

Just depends on the car.

I've used M1 for almost 40 years and none of my cars used M1 to where I had to top it off between oci. But on some cars it does not work well, go to a S2000 forum and look at all the AP1's that use M1. Most don't use M1 in the AP1, now the AP2(like my '06) does not eat any M1 between oci but other AP2's do. Go figure.

I never had a problem with oil usage/burning using Mobil 1, I think it's one of the better oils out there. My car generally uses 3/4 of a quart in 5,000 miles...with Mobil 1 it uses a bit less than other brands.

Its not volatility or viscosity as other oils that are lower viscosity and higher NOACK don't burn off at as high a rate.
