New MB 229.6 spec

Last update - 07/07/2016. Is it going to be something like full SAPS 229.5 succesor or something different? I haven't seen anything about this spec on BITOG.

229.6 oil spec is for M270, M274 and M276 engines.

229.71 is for OM654

OK, but M270, M274 and M276 are quite old and will be replaced next year by M254 and M256 (straight six) that are totally new. Maybe 229.6 oils are designed for those (and newer) engines?

Most probably. No point in developing new oils for older engines. Also, 229.6 will be only outside of EU.

It's western Europe aswell. Sheet 223.2 is your friend.
