Looking at the Australian Shell web site, I just noticed that they list a new full synthetic oil.
Shell Helix Ultra 5W-20 (SN, GF-5, A1/B1, MS 6395) which is PurePlus (GTL) based.

OZ SHU 5W20

Then I saw this OZ SHU 0W20

GTL Shell Helix Ultra 0W-20 (SN, GF-5, A1/B1)

I've never seen either in the wild. Has anybody seen these oils yet ?

You can get the GTL Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 easy enough (SN, A3/B4, BMW LL-01, MB 229.5, Porsche A40, etc).

OZ SHU 5W40

I could not find an Australian data sheet for either the 5W20 or 0W20 SHU, but I did find this Dutch data sheet for the SHU 0W20 (2014)

Netherlands SHU 0W20

KV100 = 8.31
KV 40 = 45.30
VI = 168
Flash Point = 235 C
Pour Point = -48 C

The Shell Helix Ultra 0w-20 is available at Repco Stores in WA

5L cost is approx $83.60 AUD.

Bit thin for our climate.

It been on the shelves for well over 6 months over here in West Aust.

Thanks VO, I might pop in to Repco this weekend to see if we have it here too. Just out of interest, I have no need for a 20 grade oil, unless it's to dilute my Shell HX7 10W-40 a bit.

Did you know Shell HX8 5W-30 synthetic is 35% off this weekend at Repco ? (Well it is around here anyway).

Happy election day !!

This Ultra 0W20 looks very stout though ...
and the same could be said for 5W20 with similar base oils , I guess.

They have run out of the Shell HX8 5W-30.

OK spotted it in the wild at Repco in Australia (East Coast, I know VO has spotted it on the West Coast already).

Shell Helix Ultra 0W20, GTL full synthetic, at $84 for 5L (Regular price, but wait for one of their 20-40 % off sales).
It's rated API SN, ILSAC GF-5 and ACEA A1/B1 on the bottle.
According to the 2015 Oz spec sheet (2015 Oz SHU 0W20 PDF)
KV100 = 8.80 cSt
KV40 = 46.30 cSt
PP = -48 C
FP = 224 C

For comparison, Shell Helix Ultra 5W40, also a GTL full synthetic, was $72 for 5L (regular price).
It's rated: SN/CF, A3/B4, BMW LL-01, MB 229.5 / 226.5, VW 502.00 / 505.00, Porsche A40, Ferrari, RN 0700 / 0710 on the bottle. According to the 2015 Oz spec sheet (2015 Oz SHU 5W40 PDF)
KV100 = 13.10 cSt,
KV40 = 79.10 cSt
PP = -45 C
FP = 242 C

I've always wanted a GTL SHU 5W30 with a KV100 of 11 to 12 cSt. I'm tempted to mix my own.

Helix Ultra is available in Australia several 5W30 blends

. I've been using it since April in my Saab 9-5, and have seen significant improvements in fuel economy and engine cleanliness.

Most Repco's stock 5W30 in for folling specifications: Some AutoBarn stores also stock them as well. No for supercheap/sprint/autopro/bursons.
-ECT C3 - Dexos2 / SN / C3 $80 (What I've been using, but always buy on a Repco 30% sale for $56)
-AG - Dexos2 / SN / C3 $83
-AF -(Ford/Jag/Landrover A1/B1 spec) $83

Other xW30's are:
0W30 C2/C3 (VW 504/507,)
5W30 AF-L (Ford/Jag / ACEA C1)
5W30 AP-L (Peugoet/Citreon/Fiat specific)

I've not seen these in the wild, but I have confirmed that 0W30 C2/C3 available from the wholesaler in Perth (for much less than typical retail, ~ $60.) And I'm planning to pick up a box of 3, before I drive back to SA.

I just bought very similar Shell Helix Professional AF 5w20 A1/B1 SN oil, 5 litres is normally £48 odd a EuroCarParts, I used a Discount Code just before New Uear and got it for under £29.

But at nearly £50 retail the price differential is not as high as it first appears.

The oil I bought is specced for the Ford 1.0 Ecoboost and all the oils that meet those specs are pricey.

True, but our fuel is about half the price, so we win

My wife is Scotish, and I'm always astonished by the price of juice over there when we pop over and rent a car.

Actually, with the brexit exchange rate dive it's not quite half anymore, but never the less.
