Remember, that 19.3k is the starting point for negotiations. If they want you to buy it, they will come down. If not walk away and they'll be calling you shortly.

0% and $750 off with good credit through VW

this should get you another $500 off the lowest price you negotiate. Don't let the dealer say no, as its a VW rebate and they lose nothing in the process. Bummed I didn't find out about it prior to purchase.

I've driven both a newer Jetta and a mk7 Golf. I wouldn't think twice and go for the hatchback. Everything to me felt better in the golf, fit and finish, handling, build quality standards... Etc.

Also if your main dislike of the Golf is the 15" wheels, there is a dealer on the 'tex that sells take offs and accessory wheels very reasonably..

What would be considered a fair offer without being laughed out of the dealership ( as in make sure it's a serious offer in ballpark)

I wasn't able to look at the whole post about the extra 500 off but I get the idea you have to work for a partner?

You can get a referral (for a discount I believe) to the SCCA on VWvortex. Or pay whatever the full price is to join the SCCA ($65) and you should get the $500 partner discount. It says "below invoice", but many, many people report that the $500 comes off the dealers best price.

When I was shopping, I started off letting the dealer know that I was willing to drive for the right price, and I gave the lowest advertised price I found within a 4-5hr radius. Get email quotes from those dirt cheap advertised dealers and ask the local one to match.

I'd start $1k under what they're asking. Don't worry about offending them. I told the salesmen that I knew they were desperate for sales and VWs image was hurting.

One dealer has already offered another 500 off the price I've been quoted. Too bad they sold the silver Golf I was looking at. Only black left, not a fan

You can go out of state too. I paid like $400 to get my MT wagon shipped in from CA to UT since the closest one was 600+ miles away. Got a high volume dealer to give me a better price than local too.

I'm trying to find lower deals in neighboring states. I actually sat in a Jetta Sport last night and well.....I'm not so sure on it now. I didn't like the additional bolstering that it had down around the leg area. The Golf seats look like they didn't have that.

Recently test drove the Civic, Accord, Camry, Optima, Legacy, Corolla and the Accord was my favorite. Just a base LX model which had the nice piano black accents on the dash. While the others looked cheap with all the plastic. I was quoted $19,300 for it without negotiating plus ttl. If you want a manual then figure around $18,500 plus ttl.
