Thanks. Multiple shops near us including the independent we use for repairs.

We are moving and just bought a new washer and dryer from Costco, to be delivered to our new house after we move in. We went with an LG because the Whirlpool model washer had pretty bad reviews from those who have had it over a year. The one thing that scared us off was a review of someone who had it two years and one of the mechanisms with the motor broke ($700 repair) and they said the repairman said it was a design issue and almost surely to happen again. And a common complaint with HE washers is they don't use enough water to get the clothes clean, and the LG has a button to add more water and the Whirlpool doesn't.

Then again, the dryer part of the set had no complaints from anyone.

If you can, just fix the one you have if it is fixable. Older ones are usually better for reliability, cheaper to fix, and the differences for features and energy savings for old vs. new dryers is much less than with washers (except new ones often have a steam feature).
