Kendall oil is one of those oils where engineers did not have anything to do one day and came up with an idea to make oil.
Then lady from Phillips 66 says: oh if we wanted to send samples to Porsche we could meet spec.
The question is: can you insult intelligence of customers more then that?

OK. I understand what you are saying.
What changed from ACEA-C3-10 to -12?

Not much.

GFC-Lu-43A-11 was incorporated as a oxidation test method within ACEA 2012.

Thanks for posting that graphic, Ramblejam.

So is it possible that the Kendall oil meets the C3-12 spec, but they just didn't update the PDS?

I would think updating the PDS would be a no brainer for a company trying to sell oil.

It's actually approved (not the silly meets or exceeds language) against BMW Longlife-04 and Mercedes-Benz 229.51, both of which are tougher than the ACEA spec.

So, sure...it's possible.

I asked Phillips 66 about the ACEA C3-10 vs 12 issue.
Here is the reply-

Thank you for your email.

While the label does reference Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Euro meeting ACEA C3-10, the Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Euro 5W-30 does meet all of the requirements of ACEA C3-12. We are in the process of updating labels and literature to reflect this.

Another item to note is the Chrysler MS-11106 specification incorporates specific tests necessary to gain Mercedes Benz approval for MB 229.51. Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Euro 5W-30 is approved by Mercedes Benz against MB 229.51.

We hope that you have found this information helpful. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you!
