I just bought a bunch of the real deal NATO jerry cans for long term fuel storage. I also bought a bunch of the spare rubber gaskets to have replacements for the rest of my life and kids lives. These spare gaskets will be sitting on a shelf for decades most likely before they are used and I want to make sure they last and stay in new condition with out drying up and cracking. Should I store them in some rubber O-ring type grease like Nyogel 760 that is good for O-ring rubber? What would be the best way to keep these gaskets like new?

Here is the exact gasket and grease I'm thinking of using:

If the world ever gets messed up to the point that there's no rubber o-rings left, jerry cans won't help

I guess I would stick them in a plastic bag packed with Sil-Glyde?

I imagine those gaskets in a plastic bag inside the house would last a long long time. Curious about the grease.

What would the freezer do to extend their life??

i was going to say - pack them in grease? Dont think so.

Id put a thin coating of some protectant on them, bag them, and use the typical 40% humidity at 40F for storage.

Yes. But US and Canada are part of NATO, not NATO.

If you're not .gov and in the US, you're pretty much going to be buying the steel cans if you want a military fuel can.

Here's a place selling the real deal cans for a good price.
