I still see many 70's Japanese bikes around. The mechanicals are solid, and the electrics, while mediocre were good for their day in comparison to awful Brit stuff. By the 70's the Japanese had disc brakes and electric starts, something the Brits only went to begrudgingly. It is all relative.

Its laughable that people would read your post on a used three year old pre-owned motorcycle which has been modified by its owner and take your post with anymore more then a grain of salt.

The problem I see with them is getting parts. Even old Harley Ironhead is getting hard to find parts for.
