Wow! The Ultra sure did a good job of cutting the wear metals down to some real low numbers.
What was the previous oil in use, as it lacked both Moly and Boron additives ??

The Ultra is doing a fine job. Looks like it thickened up a bit though. I'd try 7k miles.

Did you run the car hard before fully warming up while running the GC?

Try 10K. And forget the tbn. I have seen a bad one yet. I only did it this time bc I did a 15K run.

I would try 7k because the oil appears oxidized. There is more to oil longevity than TBN.

Too bad this really good oil cannot be purchased ANYWHERE really anymore except Pep Boys or online. It's aggervating. I don't buy items online. I like purchasing my products in person from a store. I'm 40 yrs old so I guess I am old fashioned in this way. And the closest Pep Boys is 28 miles away. Just foolish that Pennzoil didn't keep this in Wally world.

I don't think it's SOPUS that is keeping this out of Walmart, but Walmart keeping it out of certain stores for some reason???? All our Walmarts around here still stock it. I'm sure it's a store by store decision, or maybe even a regional thing?

In fairness to Walmart, they do only have so much shelf space, and obviously have to provide sufficient space for the products that sell the best. Up here, PU was sunk before it started, given our pricing. And even here, in a small city, some Walmarts seem to stock oil better than others and sell more than others.

I'm older than you and buy stuff online all the time! Just tell yourself 40 is the new 30. That will help.

Anyway...OP - fantastic report. Try 9K next.

How has it thickened up when UOA KV@100*C of 11.15 cSt , is thinner than its nominal KV@100*C of 12.0 cSt at new ?

Latest Shell PDS says 10.3 cSt for PUP 5w30. Maybe it was the old Ultra before they changed the name, but I recall that being around 10 cSt too. All the SOPUS ilsac 30 weights are on the thin side.

Yeah PU Platinum 5W30 is 10.3 cSt.
Are we not talking about P Ultra(without Platinum) 5W30 here ? http://oilmart.com/data/products/pds/1244/PDS Pennzoil Ultra Euro L 5W-30.pdf
..... whose KV@100*C is 12.0 cSt.

Was this "Pennzoil Ultra" (old) or "Pennzoil Ultra Platinum" (new)? Curious, because they are not the same oil.

The previous fill was Pennzoil Ultra 5w-30 as well. Two oils back I thin it was Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30..

No I did not. However, my commute to work with the GC was under 8 miles each way so in the summer, it would not be considered severe service but in the winter yes...

Thanks! The car is still under warranty so I cannot go to 9K. However, 9K makes me a bit leery... might stick with 7500 miles just to be safe..

This is the "old" Pennzoil Ultra, the grey bottle, not the "Pennzoil Ultra Platinum"..

I had scooped up the last 15 quarts at the local Autozone...

I found pennzoil ultra platinum at napa this month for 5.99qt plus 2.00 mir. Check there and see if they are honouring the promo in your location.
