Arthritic joints

Unfortunately arthritis (the common "osteo" variety) is a mechanical problem, not unlike wear in the suspension and steering joints of your car. Just about everyone gets it somewhere in their body, to some extent, sooner or later. You know you have it bad when you're getting joint replacement surgeries in your 50's and literally almost everything hurts all the time. Nothing you can ingest or inject will reverse or repair the damage. All you can do is treat the symptoms. The older you get the more risky surgery becomes. Deciding when it's time for my next trip to the shop (hospital) for repairs is my biggest worry now at age 56.

Eat lots of fish like salmon. All the fish oil will help keep the joints moving freely. Ever hear a fish complain about arthritis..........................NO! Bears that eat salmon move run like gazelles and are very strong. Plus they don't complain about arthritis either. Of course the doctor wants to keep you coming back or refer you to specialists and prescribe a bunch of pills. So they can keep that revolving door moving. When the door stops moving they're not making money. Not all doctors but you get the picture.

Yep. Doctors do get an incentive for writing certain prescriptions...
I'm 53 and feel like 35, but I never abused my back and knees.

I don't tolerate NSAIDs well, so I take acetaminophen and keep moving. I have an arthritic shoulder. Tylenol and resistance training is what works for me.

Bears have the same problems if they live long enough as humans. All salmon in the world will not prevent arthritis. If bears live long enough not only will they suffer from arthritis the cartilage in between their spines will wear away and eventually their spinal cord will naturally fuse and they will become lame.

Omega-3 and treatment of arthritis are mixed at best.

This is a good point. I should clarify that my comments above only apply to autoimmune disease caused arthritis. Rheumatoid, psoriatic, etc.

Osteo is just plain physically worn out joints.

Eating properly your entire life won't prevent joints from eventually wearing or having pain. It's a normal part of getting advanced in age. If you beat yourself up with a tough career choice or did a lot of sports that are hard on the joints, you will most likely suffer more than the average person.

I take Tramadol and Diclofenac for my back pain.
