Daughter's 07 Camry has the dreaded 2.4L that can start using oil at alarming rates if oil drain holes in pistons get plugged. I noticed increased consumption as she approached 100k miles. I ran a dose of Rislone for a couple of thousand miles but only saw slight decrease in consumption (quart about every 1500-1700 miles). Decided to try BG109 or EPR as it's called today. First can went in and ran engine at 1,200 to 1,500 rpms for about 15 minutes. Drained and refilled with Mobil 1 0w-30 AFE. Oil consumption reduced to a quart about every 2K miles. Repeated the BG109 treatment at next OCI (5K) and was a little more aggressive during the treatment, revving a few times to 3K rpms and letting off quickly to create backpressure. Refilled with 0w-30 and just checked it. 1,942 miles and only down 1/4 of a quart. Will probably retreat in 20K unless consumption starts to increase again.
