This is the CARQUEST blue filter that has replaced the one formerly manufactured by Wix. As those that have seen the video may know, these are made by Champion Labs. It looks and feels like an awesome oil filter. The only thing that bothers me is the limited number of holes in the center tube. Is this not anything I should be worried about? It seems like testing would have validated that these work just fine. If that seems reasonable then I would have to strongly recommend this filter. Apparently 99.5 @ 20 microns. Also, as used to commonly be the case, the media is held together by a large metal crimp. This is the PF48 equivalent. A very nice OEM sized, yet very high quality filter. Champ labs pulled out all the stops. Do we think the holes in the center tube are too small?

Add up the total area of the holes in the center tube. Should be more than the area of the hole in the center of the threaded spud that the filter mounts to on the engine.

The holes in the base plate look big and qty 8 ... no problems there.

The CQ Blue is an awesome filter at a great price with the discount code.

Your 85040 is a reboxed M1-101

Interesting to see that the 85040 still uses round holes. Many of Fram's CQ's have the slots now, such as the 84356.

Base plate looks good for sure, it's that center tube that I was worried about. I'll tell you, after the negative experience I had with an e-core today I don't trust anything anymore.

The 84060 is NOT a rebadged M1-113. Baseplate and center tube look totally different.

I wouldn't worry about the center tube holes, but from what little I can see in one photo it looks like there are some big gaps between pleats around the crimp area. Potentially, that could lead to issues--at least that is where we have seen problems with other filters on here. How do we know this is a Champ Labs filter?

IMO this is a great looking filter...you can also use coupon codes at advance auto parts as well for those. This is why i run them. Media was comparable to Mobil one is what people mean when they compare the two. Great filter when bought properly
