2005 Chevy Avalanche, speedometer started working erratically Saturday. In a 45 mph zone it would register anywhere from 15mph to 120 mph. I found some kits on Ebay complete with instructions, soldering iron, stepper motors, new bulbs etc for around $40. I was a little shy about a diy kit, didn't want to ruin the circuit board, so I got the local speedometer shop to fix mine with all new stepper motors, new bulbs and had them replace the bulb in my headlight switch. It was pricey at $190 but came with a 12 month warranty and the cluster is brighter and the gauges, tach and speedo, seem to be smoother than ever.

I see you are in NC. Who did the repair work? The reason I ask is because I just had to replace my Oldsmobile digital speedometer that are known to have cold solder joints. I bought a rebuilt speedometer from Ebay that has been working great, but I like to have options.
