Some neat stuff, strain gauging timing chain links, measuring VVT operation time and reliability (interesting chart on VVT operation time versus RPM and temperature).
One part that got me was high load operation cold with hydraulic lash adjusters that can't bleed down quick enough to counteract exhaust valve extension due to heat, and cause a misfire/stall when returned to idle.
