Blackstone Comments:Most of the metals are very similar to what we saw last time from your BMW, which is expected
since the oil runs are very close. The only metal that sticks out a little is iron since it increased by about a
third. It's still lower than universal averages on a per-mile basis though, so it's hard to call a problem at steel
parts. Maybe the increase is operational if the engine saw harder use on this run. The viscosity is on the
thin side for 5W/40, but just barely. It didn't hurt anything that we can see. The TBN is 2.5, showing active
additive left. Try 13,500 miles on the oil.

Before extending drain intervals, I would get the TBN and TAN measured on your next analysis.

I'm not going to extend the interval. I change the oil once a year regardless of mileage. That was the guidance from BMW when I bought the car.

The viscosity took a beating. Are you tuned at all?

No tune. The viscosity is actually better than the last time I sampled. I fat fingered the viscosity for the last UOA, it should be 62.7, not 67.2, I can't figure out how to edit my post.

Looks great to me for a 12k run - keep doing what you're doing.

I think I will pull a sample mid run this time, whenever I have to add my make up quart, just to see how it's doing.
