Yes, I have the original manuals. Calls for 10k mile OCI.
Just bought it in November. Got in a hurry and put a Fram Synthetic cartridge filter in. I have 5 fleece filters stocked up for future use (Mann and Hengst)

I am actually going the opposite direction on OCI for this car, since it has 134k miles. I like what Kent Bergsma says in this video about reducing OCI with age over 120k miles.
Plus, I like doing it! As easy as it gets when you use suction. Never have to get under the car.

This day of age there's really no price penalty in using 229.5 over 229.3. I only pointed out that your engine doesn't really NEED later spec. Cars made between 98-05 can use both. Personally I would rather use 229.5, since it is a better specification.

Fleece filters are better, but not necessary with short OCIs. MB specifies them with 30k km OCI because paper ones could fail by that time (highly unlikely), and MB like to overengineer everything.
