Hi everyone,

Our dad just bought a 2470 Case tractor. We went to change the oil and filters. He bought new ones from the Case IH dealer. Looking inside them, I was surprised to see they are using the small slits in the center tube, just like the auto filters. Being a tractor, I was expecting round holes for flow. Thought that was interesting.

If the slits are opened up well, then it should be fine. If the slits look like they are only opened up about paper thickness wide, then might not be so good. If done right, slits/louvers would provide more flow area then fewer holes.

Lots of the Deere filters I get have slits. Even on the gear that's over 100k. You'll be fine. No need to be concerned.
