I hated going to the car wash and waiting in line and always feeling like your under pressure to be quick but our water is so hard it was impossible to do them at home. So a few years back a bought one these filters and it really does help. You still have to dry with towel or chamois so its not spotless.

The only hassle is keeping the filter on soft water pellets to rejuvenate it between washes.

Any one else use something similar that may be easier to use?

There was a car wash gun a few years ago that used cartridges to soften water. I forget the name, but I think it never really made it and you cannot find cartridges. You used the cartridges 5 times then toss.

This one is a lot more money but produces deionized water which can be used in the cooling system (maybe battery). One could push deionized water through the cooling system using garden hose water pressure.

That looks pretty nice but mama would never go for that but it did give me an idea to mount the one I have. The mounting bracket that cam with mine was fairly cheap and bent right away.
