Hi, just about to fit a hybrid turbo and tubular manifold to my VW T5 2.5 PD but before hand I wanted to add some extra gauges for oil pres/temp, EGT, boost etc to make sure everything is working as it should.

The only spec VW give is 2bar @ 2000rpm @ 80degs C.

At 90degs C I got:-
Idle- 0.7 bar
1500- 1.3 bar
2000- 1.9 bar
2500- 2.5 bar
3000- 4.4 bar

Does my idle-2000 seem a little low?

Thanks for your reply, glad you think my pressure is ok, I remember years ago with classic cars people liked to run 2-3 bar even at idle but I guess oils and engine components have come a long way since.

I did find an article on here saying 10psi per 1000rpm is a good practice.

Just wanted to check everything is in place as the mods will give an extra 100hp.
Mods:- Wagner intercooler, PPT exhaust and down pipe, AGM manifold and GT2056V turbo (upgraded with 60mm com wheel).
The standard VW T5 2.5 PD engines make 130 or 174hp, they seem to be a strong unit and run around 250hp/580nm of torque with the above mods.

The only picture I have so far is of the manifold:-

Oh that's pornography right there.

Before going full fat, have you had the valve cover off yet? The PD cam and buckets can wear pretty severely. I'd want to verify condition before proceeding, but you should be fine if you've run quality oil.

And you'll have to forgive me, I'm not familiar with the 2.5, as we only got the lowly 1.9 over here. Seems like it'll be a screamer!

Had the rocker cover off last year as I did actually have to change a worn cam/followers at 120K (common issue on the VW 2.5 PD diesels).
Since this I have run Fuchs Pro S Ester based fully synthetic oil but for what it's worth the OE VW oil may do another 10 years 120k just fine.
