VCM and this engine is hard on oil and it sludges if you go by the MM. 5,000 OCI is cheap insurance plus it is easy to remember and keep track of.

You must not be familiar with the J35 with VCM. OP, keep doing what you are doing. Your report looks great! Thanks for sharing.

Last oil is a 30grade not a 20. Or b-stone messed up ... again. I doubt it oxidized with 5K. Was that a harsh winter run?

Dorian that moly is factory fill( you can tell by the wear trends). Japanese OEM seemed to like moly with their 20grades to add a safety margin to a light vis oil. Unfortunately High moly add wont pass TEOST deposit for ILSAC. ILSAC committee gave 20 grades a pass for the fail as 20 wasn't used in hot turbo lube scenarios - at the time.

XOM do not formulate EP with that much PAO, nor the premier 0w40 high specification ACEA/VAG/MB.
GTL is the current move for XOM with ILSAC blends, using VISOM as a transitional stock this PER XOM powerpoint that I cant link for you now

M1 HAD A GOOD OIL WITH THEIR TRISYNTHETIC ... OVER A DECADE AGO. PAO/AN/POE. Real stuff that could outperform amsoil's best stuff at the time in situ in sloppy tuned machines.

Arco, that's not true. Per MSDS it's 70% PAO.

The rest of their oils are a mix of III/IV and V in various %'s.

M1 EP 0w20
1-DECENE, HOMOPOLYMER HYDROGENATED 68037-01-4 60 - < 70% H304

Have a look for yourself.

I posted that Visom PDF years ago. It's old.

I believe XOM will continue to use even more PAO, when needed, to meet the demands of specifications that are really pushing performance limits.

All Mobil 1 oils contain at the ver least 20-30% PAO per the MSDS.

m1 5w30
1-DECENE, HOMOPOLYMER HYDROGENATED 68037-01-4 20 - < 30%

NONE disclosed in the 0w40

Though I don't trust MSDS for accuracy, Its all we got, right?

I will look into running the 0w20EP in the forester, looks like a REAL synthetic for a good price (if I can find it)

Thanks Buster.

Bought a jug at Wally for 25 and change. We'll see how she does. May go ~ 8000 first go round. Wife puts about 25k a year on the Foz.
