Has any tried the Spectra Premium o2 Sensors. The 02 Sensor went on my beater VW Golf and the Bosch or NTk ones are well over $100 while my local parts guy said they have these cheap ones for $65. I know they're probably not going to last as long as the name brand ones but if it'll work correctly and last for a few more years since thats what this car has then i'll buy it.

I'd try to buy the name brand ones off Amazon or Rock Auto for the same price as an off brand.

+1 for the above comment. An O2 sensor for my 1995 Escort is something like $26 for a Bosch direct fit on Amazon.

My thought exactly. Lots of Bosch are reboxed NGK.

I saw from another post of yours that your Golf is a 99 with the 2.0L engine. Please mention that in any thread about the car, especially since it isn't listed in your sig.

Do you need an upstream or downstream sensor? Does this car have a distributor?

I wouldn't want to change brands of O2 sensor. I have seen too many cars run poorly when an NTK or Denso sensor is replaced by a Bosch unit. I am afraid that the same thing could happen if Spectra Premium, Ultrapower, Walker, or some other manufacturer's sensor was installed.

Anyway, I buy stuff from Partsgeek and Summit Racing often and it usually costs less than anywhere else.

I've got one in My Escort that I installed at around 88K miles. I have 235K on the car now, and the Bosch O2 sensor is still working.

Bosch are good sensors the problem is with the universal ones that people mistakenly solder the wires and prevents the sensor from breathing.
