This is a friend of mine. They seem to forget to come in for an oil change but looks like it doesn't hurt any. This is running a Car Quest oil and air filter.

Code:
This oil run was a tad longer than the previous one. So it's nice to see most of the wear metals holding low and

steady. Copper actually dropped a little and we generally don't complain about improvements. The flashpoint does show

a little fuel but you can get a trace just from normal use. Insolubles measured at a trace as well and that shows excellent

oil filtration. The TBN is getting low at 1.9 but there is still a little active additive left here. Try 11,000 miles on

the next oil.

I don't understand, TBN is 1,9 which is quite low, but Blackstone says almost doubling the OCI ??? What did I miss ?

Pretty nice report !

OK, My proof reading sucks. It is supposed to be 9,086 miles not 6,086. This forums sucks that you can't edit with in a few hours.

I'm curious as to why the copper dropped on this sample. My Durango with the same engine usually stays in the low 20 range, which is what your previous sample shows.

Who makes the car quest oil filter? How many miles is it rated for? Does it say it is rated for the manufacturer recommended oci?

Your buddy must drive a lot, almost 70k on a '14 model.

TBN depletion is not linear. There is a sharp drop off in TBN early in the oil's life and that depletion slows with time. The oil still has almost a full point to work with (0.9) before it gets to the Blackstone recommended 1 minimum. I'd say they could squeeze another 1900 miles out of that oil for 11k total.

Great report for a non-long drain oil!
