Apparently this didn't take. Sorry about that.

It's interesting that only one truck, the F150 got the rating of good.

Thanks for the re-post.

Interesting--Tundra CrewMax (the one with four big doors) fares worse structurally compared to the Double Cab (the one with two abbreviated rear doors, but otherwise same frame and front end). Did not expect that one.

Kudos to Ford. I don't want to sound like sour grapes, since my "beloved" brand didn't do so well, but I'd like to point out that once the vehicles in question meet this standard, the standard will just get raised. Again. And each time the bar is raised, all the old models will of course "fail", along with anyone who didn't move fast enough to meet the new standards.

I'm not sure when we'll be into the point of diminishing returns.

As usual, Ram bringing up the bottom of the barrel.

Would also be interesting to see tests of the smaller trucks.

I remember when my friend T boned F-250 with BMW E46 330i. F250 went through red light. It was not funny, he destroyed that poor truck completely.
When someone tells me truck are tough I always remember that accident.

No probs and thanks for sharing the article.
Pretty interesting about the safety of the trucks. Sure they have the mass and the frame, which gives them the advantage in a full head on collision, but their structure is not all that great for all other types of accidents.

No more Ranger or small Colorado. Other than marginal maneuverability improvement the midsize truck offer nothing over a full size. Even fuel mileage is abysmal. I miss small trucks. I loved my 81 V6 S10 MT.

I agree trucks are not tough at all although the 5.0 range rover used to be the tanks of tanks.
My wife came down my driveway in the snow with her leased BMW x5 and hit the range rover pretty hard and destroyed the X5 but the range rover barely woke up... $6700.00 in damage due to ice and crazy driver..lol

Equal to the Toyota trucks, correct?

So I saw this same post on another forum and many were saying something along the lines of, "your truck isn't as tough as you thought it was.."

But, theoretically, wouldn't my full sized pickup "win" in a crash against a smaller vehicle? Doesn't the heavier vehicle have the advantage? Not to mention the sheer size of a full-size truck, higher front end, more space from point of impact and driver, among the many other advantages a truck has over a car.

I'm no crash test engineer, but these are just my thoughts and a few of the reasons I choose to drive a large truck.

This is only one type of crash and is not always indicative of performance in the real world.

Unfortunately I have wrecked a few trucks, mostly because we drive a ton for business. But each and every one of my accidents, including a rollover, ALWAYS involved another car or truck. I guess I'm pretty good at missing stationary objects.

For those of you who only hit things that are totally immovable and extremely dense, then you can only have a Ford...
