PTFE powder?

So, I decided to post here because I suspect it will get greater traffic than on the bicycle board, plus it has broad applications. I am specifically thinking of bike chains, but any boundary oil really...

Has anybody ever used powdered PTFE either alone or in a home-mix with whatever oil? I was thinking of trying out the below product mixed in with synthetic ATF as a home-brew all season/weather chain lube. In essence, a DIY version of triflow. Might even be a great way to repurpose used transmission fluid. Thoughts? Waste of time or good idea?

Give it a try and let us know. What your suggesting is the best way to learn what works and what does not. When doing such projects you usually end up going of in some other direction that you never considered.

For chain lube I use Maxima Chain Wax, after experimenting with just about everything, homemade or otherwise.

Not sure why you want to mess with DIY when there are purpose made PTFE chain lubes. Part of the deal is the carrier penetrates the links carrrying in the PTFE and evaporates then a wax component seals dirt out. I use the second one on dirt bike chains and rollers on my sliding door screen. It leaves behind visible PTFE powder.
