Hi Is Mobil 1 synthetic atf fluid (Grey bottle) Compatible with Mazda Type 5 ATF Fluid I cannot figure out if it is or not ?

Thanks again for any responses

What vehicle is it, and where is the fluid going, is is going in the automatic transmission, manual trans, or power steering??

If you mean Mercon V, yes its compatible and a good product for that.

Hi Thanks for the quick response !!

It's for a 1999 Mazda Truck B2500 SE Automatic transmission and yes it is for the transmission. I thought Mercon V but in AllData it says use Mazda Type 5 ATF Fluid. I have never heard of this before lol But you think it's safe to use the Mobil 1 ATF Synthetic Fluid ?

According to the Amsoil applications guide it was originally specified for Mercon which means it was later specified for the Mercon V which Mobil 1 works great in, no worries!

Thanks I was really worried because I went ahead today and bought the fluid and was worried if it was the wrong type. Thanks again If you could paste the link for that guide I would appreciate it !!!!

Thanks again !!! I just wanted to make sure the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF tranny fluid was correct for my truck.

Awesome Thanks For All Your Help !!! I pasted the link to be 100% sure I know you knew which one I was talking about lol. Thanks again

I don't think I can use this for my power steering right ? I know Royal Purple is compatible.

Sorry to be late to this party but Mazda Type 5 is a specific fluid. It is not Mercon V and it isn't Mercon.

Castrol Import MV ATF is the easiest to find ATF that carries the Mazda Type 5 listing. Mobil 1 does not meet the specs last I checked. Sorry.

M1 ATF did meet the spec, along with many others, but dropped the multi spec thing about three years ago. I was using M1 in my Fusion trans that spec'd FNR-5, so I called Mobil tech and they told me it was the same fluid after the spec change. To this date my trans performs very well with the M1 ATF.

It is impossible for M1 to meet all the specs they list. They call it suitable for use. It does not meet the Type 5 Spec.

This is what Ford says about this transmission.
Motorcraft® FNR5 ATF’s are unique fluids and MUST be used in applications recommending that particular fluid. Use of any other fluid may cause reduced functionality or transmission damage.

Time out, lots of bad info in this thread. The B-series trucks never specified Mazda M5 fluid, they specified Mercon and then Mercon V. The only Ford that used the Mazda M5 fluid was the Fusion with the FNR5 transmission.
