Yamaha offering 20 year Warranty

Since they exclude "normal wear and tear" wouldn't the life cycle of the machine decide what is normal? If every machine required a main bearing replacement at 50k miles due to some minor defect, wouldn't that be considered "normal wear and tear" at that point?

It seems very vague about what is covered and very specific that every type of maintenance you would expect to perform is not covered.

If you go to the Road Star (Yamaha) forum you will see a lot of riders that have well over a 100k miles . I read a reply the other day about a rider with 230k miles. The bikes have been around for quite a few years now and riders with earlier models have racked up some impressive mileage.
They have only been around since '99, and are no longer sold new in the US. I guess if you were to look at all the brands sold, you can find a few that are ridden alot more then most.,,,

I've personally had 3 Hondas with over half that mileage.

Let me walk over to my 1998 Honda VFR 800. Yep, just a little shy of 70k miles.

That the oil needs to be changed by month or within 100 miles of the schedule will probably void most warranties and forgetting to register your oil change with Yamaha will void many more. The hoops one has to jump through has me feeling like the dog and not the master.

Qualifying Yamalube Oils include:
15W-50 Full Synthetic
10W-50 Semi-Synthetic
20W-50 Semi-Synthetic
10W-40 All Purpose
20W-50 All Purpose

It's interesting how exactly ZERO thin oils are used.

Yamaha didn't read oil 101!

Thin oils don't seem to do especially well in a shared sump.
