2013 Fiesta Hatchback SE. I have Blackstone analyse the oil after each oil change. I got the following report - There was some fuel present, and 2.5% is a cautionary amount, but some of it could be from operational factors like idling or cold sampling. It does not idle much, and I took the sample hot. I remember getting a recall from Ford about a fuel system defect, but the dealer knows nothing about it. The mileage is a little worse now. What to look for. Any codes related to fuel system. How to fix. No, I do not want to pay the dealer fix it.

Can you upload the full report? How many miles on the oil?

I cant seem to find a recall or TSB for the 2013 Fiesta related to fuel system. DI cars are known to have this issue, I'm thinking maybe you just went too long on the oil?

Went about 6000 miles on oil change. Third oil change. Never had fuel in oil reported before. 10,000 mile is recommended. TSB is Trouble service bulletin ? I just found the notice in an unexpected place - Emission Recall 14E08 - Evaporative emission not comply w/gov guidelines. Where to find TSB's ?

TSB is technical service bulletin. Sometimes they can be found online, it is something the dealer service department has access to.

Just talked to the dealers service department. He said the last oil change was after too many miles. It was less than 6000 miles. The owners manual sites 10,000 miles or 1 year in normal conditions w/o defining normal conditions. He said every 5000 miles. The manual also says every 5000 miles or 6 months if the oil change indicator is not working. Thanks Ford! (my 99 Escort did not have the transmission fluid changed until 160,000 miles because that's what the manual said, except in an obscure place it also said every 80,000 miles. Make up your mind Ford!!!) My last oil change was last july. Could that be the problem? The NTHSA and the Emission recall were done last july when I had the car at their body shop which was unknown to me. I am thinking about having the codes read to see if something is up. It could be that the length of time between oil changes could be a factor even though it was not too many miles. Blackstone did recommend extending the oil change interval to 8000 miles on the previous sample.

I had the codes read. Nothing came up. I recently began shifting the manual transmission at about just under 2000 rpm unless I am in a hurry or getting onto a highway. The manual again contradicts itself on shift points. It recommends shifts up at 14,24,32, and 44 mph. On another page it says a minimum of 1200 rpm. I always shift so the rpm's never drop below 1500. Could that explain fuel in the oil? The previous oil reports did not indicate any internal wear like pistons or cylinder walls, but will check the compression. Anything else to look for?. I live in the country and any trip to town is anywhere from 10 to 30 miles, very little stop and go.

it was at 2.5%. Is that enough to smell? Blackstone could be wrong, but I doubt it. I have asked this forum about Blackstone in the past with positive results. Anybody have a current opinion of them. Good question though.
