I'm not sure exactly where I heard this but is it true that this oil can withstand up to 450 degrees F,and still protect the engine? Please forgive me ,but I still have a lot to learn,and I respect you others that are vastly insightful regarding oil,etc.
 
What do you mean "withstand"? oil temps, engine coolant temps, hot plate...
M1 is good off the shelf stuff, just depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
 
At those temps (over 2x average operating temp), I would be more worried about the strain on the engine. I am not sure what good the oil would do at that point.
 
Withstand - To still have what it takes to protect the engine so that the engine doesn't blow up.

But what is reading @450?
And "blow up" is very relative. Like i asked before, what are you trying to accomplish?
Pertty much anything in a modern engine doesnt run at 450 so [censored] are you talking about?
