Ever Get Stuck with Counterfeit Auto Parts?

When I used Partsgeek, their photo of the MOOG part and their generic is the same. They are not the same. The new parts weigh about the same as a MOOG part, but it is definitely not the same thing.

A local AAP in Bradenton, Florida ripped off a company I worked for. They would take the new inner tie rod ends off rebuilt power steering rack, then re-package them and sell them as single inner tie rod ends. Either that, or Cardone made mistakes when selling their low quality P/S racks to Advance Auto.

Sometimes I get the opposite of a counterfeit part. I once needed 2 outer tie rod ends for a Toyota 4runner and only Autozone had them. They were both sold under the discount "Duralast" label, but one side was from 555/Sankei which is a good brand. The other side was the same cheap part that I would expect from Duralast.
