This was on my sister's '07 Vue (Honda V6) when she purchased it. According to the receipt from the previous owner, this had 4 months and 4 days on it. 4,308 miles. Mostly winter conditions. The ADBV felt somewhat hard and there was hardly any oil in the filter when I cut it open. The pleats looked good and I saw no tearing. Made by Purolator. This is an undersized filter for this application. Purolator calls for the longer 14610, but they do not make a QS filter in that size and this is what QS recommends. The bottom end cap fell off in my hand when I took the media out of the can. I did not pull on it or put any pressure on it, it literally just fell off.

That's the problem I've always had with QS filters-if the filter mounts in any position other than vertical & on the bottom of the engine, the ADBV hardens after only a couple months/2000 miles or so, siphons out the oil overnight. Otherwise they've been OK, for short OCIs.

The jobber filters consolidate to the smallest filter that physically fits, hence the 14612. The longer 14610 your car calls for is one of the worst in terms of torn media, while the shorty 14612 hardly has any tearing issues.

What did you replace it with?

There have been no documented cases of the 14612 with torn media

Not the best looking seam pleat area in a QS14612 ever posted here, but no tears so it got the job done. Generally speaking, the M&H Puro made for Sopus filters have shown solid results.

As noted, this one a consolidation filter size for the 14610/7317 size. Just as many quick lube/jobber filters do.

Thanks for pics
