I ordered a Moog tie rod for my 1996 Ford F150 from Rockauto. The part seems to be the right one, but it doesn't have the flat piece on the end that is shown in the pictures. What is the purpose of this piece? The box was torn and I'm afraid I didn't get all the parts.

About 2 years ago I rebuilt the front suspension and steering on my Bronco (same suspension and part numbers as your F150). I seem to remember a piece like that on the old drag link. My new parts didn't have it. I just installed the new parts without that piece. Haven't had any problems. I still don't know what that piece is for, but I doubt you really need it.

The one I put on my 88 f-150 had that piece on it. It acts as sort of a locking tab that is supposed to fit into the adjustment sleeve and keep it from moving I think. When I took my truck in to have it aligned the guy just bent it out of the way. Haven't had any problems.
