The rims on my Forester have a clear laminate over the unpainted alloy portions. Starting to get a few places where the laminate has chipped off. What should I use to seal the vulnerability so corrosion doesn't start setting up and migrating underneath the laminate?

Unless I'm mistaken, it's not a laminate, just good old clear coat paint. Just sand it back, and hit with a little clear(even from a rattle can) and you should be good.

Do you have any pics?

for a tiny spot clear fingernail polish after cleaning it.

for a larger spot.. use clear coat paint.

or do nothing and refinish the wheels when they get really ugly.
