Hi all,

I changed spark plugs on wife's 2012 Santa Fe 2.4L yesterday. I used Champion 9006 iridium's. I bought them on amazon and the gap said OEM .044. Out of the box, they were at about .041, so I gapped to .044.
So, last night, I was on Hyundai forums and saw that the recommended gap per service manual is .039-.043. I went and grabbed the old plugs and checked them. They are Denso's and the gap was .041. Should I worry about the .001 I seem to be high out on?

If it runs all right in every condition - idle, high rpm, low rpm w high load - I'd leave them alone. The high load situation is the most likely to give you problems, and possibly cold starts. If you take them out - regap to .041. Most new plugs come out of the box with the correct gap.

Yeah, it was correct out of the box. I'm doing an oil change next week, I'll go ahead and pull them and gap to .041. Its pretty easy on this car. Thanks for the help.

You are not really serious, are you? You already know the answer to the question
