Why not leave the original cam in place ?

These engines do not make a lot of power, cam and head swap will have very little gains in performance.

You would have to swap the whole head. That is possible because the blocks are the same. You now have an A2 engine which, with the VTEC control wired up, will be slightly faster than the A1.

But only slightly. Many people have tried various ways to soup up a D17 and it just doesn't work. These are good daily driver economy cars but that is it.

Yep. These motors are good for economy and basic transportation.

I like the A1 engine as it has more torque at lower RPM's. VTECH has less power at lower powerband where 95% of all driving will be done.
